Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has extended heartfelt greetings of the traditional folk festival _Chherchhera_ to the people of Chhattisgarh. On this occasion, Shri Sai offered prayers for the happiness, prosperity, and continued progress of the state.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that _Chherchhera_ is a festival symbolising generosity, social harmony, and the spirit of giving, and it vividly reflects the rich, dignified, and value-driven cultural heritage of Chhattisgarh. Celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm on the full moon day of the month of Paush, the festival marks the happiness of the new harvest arriving in households.
Shri Sai noted that the birth anniversary of Goddess Shakambhari is also observed on this day, symbolising the protection of food, nature, and life itself. According to ancient belief, it was on this day that Lord Shiva accepted alms from Goddess Annapurna. In keeping with this tradition, people observe Chherchhera by donating paddy, vegetables, fruits, and other food grains, thereby expressing compassion, mutual cooperation, and human values.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the festival of Chherchhera inspires society to strengthen the spirit of mutual love, harmony, and shared prosperity. He called upon all citizens of the state to celebrate this folk festival with goodwill, joy, and deep respect for traditional values.
