Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi meets PM Modi in Delhi

New Delhi : Chinese Foreign Minister and Politburo member of the Communist Party of China Wang Yi met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday. Wang Yi conveyed to Prime Minister Modi a message and invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin.
 
He also shared his positive assessment of the bilateral meeting with External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar and the 24th meeting of Special Representatives, which he co-chaired with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval during his visit.

The Prime Minister emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and tranquility along the border and reiterated India's commitment to a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable solution to the boundary question.

Prime Minister Modi welcomed the steady and positive progress in bilateral relations since his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan last year. These relations are guided by mutual respect, mutual interest and mutual sensitivity. This includes the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.

The Prime Minister thanked President Xi Jinping for the invitation to the SCO Summit and conveyed his acceptance. He expressed support for China's chairmanship of the SCO Summit. Shri Modi said he looked forward to meeting President Xi Jinping in Tianjin. The Prime Minister underlined that stable, hopeful and constructive relations between India and China will significantly contribute to regional and global peace and prosperity.(Agency)
