Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai participated in the celebration of 'Hareli Tihar' and a felicitation ceremony organised by the Sahu community at Marine Drive in Telibandha, Raipur on August 4. He performed pooja of agricultural equipment, including nagar, gaiti, and gedi, praying for the prosperity of the state's farmers. Shri Sai also paid floral tributes to a portrait of Bhakt Mata Karma and performed aarti, wishing for Chhattisgarh's happiness and prosperity.

During the event, the Sahu community requested the renaming of Marine Drive to Telibandha Drive, the construction of grand gates on both sides and the naming of the square after Bhakt Mata Karma. Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Shri Sai congratulated the Sahu community for organising the event. He mentioned that he had been performing poojas since morning for the well-being of Chhattisgarh's residents. Shri Sai acknowledged that Telibandha Pond is Raipur city's pride and assured that the community's demands for renaming would be seriously considered and appropriate action taken soon. The Sahu community leaders presented the Chief Minister with an oil painting of Lord Shri Ram and a copy of Ram Charit Manas. Shri Sai was also presented with a Rudraksha tree sapling, along with a shawl and shrifal.

Addressing the event, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao highlighted that ‘Hareli Tihar’ is Chhattisgarh's first festival of the year, marking the beginning of a long series of celebrations in the state. He extended Hareli Tihar greetings to everyone, describing it as a festival rich in tradition, a celebration for farmers, and a time to connect with nature.

Union Minister Shri Tokhan Sahu, referring to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai as an honoured guest of the Sahu community, spoke about the tradition of celebrating Hareli Tihar with devotion, a practice established by ancestors. He described Hareli as a festival honouring agriculture, cows, and nature. Shri Sahu urged community members to educate future generations about the festival's significance. He also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for appointing the first person from the Sahu community as a Union Minister. The Raipur district Sahu community honoured Shri Tokhan Sahu with a Rudraksha tree sapling.

The event featured musical and dance performances by Sahu community participants. The community also organised 'gedi daud' and 'matka phod’ competitions. A Shiv Tandav dance performance by twin sisters Pramila and Parvati captivated the audience. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao, Union Minister of State Shri Tokhan Sahu, MLAs Shri Motilal Sahu and Shri Sandeep Sahu, former minister Shri Chandrasekhar Sahu, and Sahu community president Shri Tahal Singh Sahu and a large number of people were present.
