135 bulk litres of illegal country liquor and a four-wheeler seized
Raipur : As per the instructions of the state government, under the investigation campaign conducted to catch illegal liquor, the Excise Department Balodabazar took a major action and seized 135 bulk litres of non-duty paid country liquor masala and a four-wheeler.
Based on the information received, a white coloured I-20 vehicle was searched on Chaurenga to Darchura road, in which a total of 750 quarters of country liquor masala (135 bulk litres) was recovered from the possession of the accused. The accused were identified as Monu alias Girit Verma, son of Sukhnandan Verma and Rakesh Kumar Sen, son of late Raghunandan Sen, residents of village Chaurenga under Simga police station. The said liquor was kept in 11 plastic sacks (50 quarters in each) and a blue bag (200 quarters). The accused were arrested in front of witnesses.

The market value of the recovered liquor has been estimated to be around Rs 75 thousand, while the market value of the seized I-20 vehicle has been reported to be Rs 5 lakh. Legal action is being taken by registering a case against the accused under sections 34(2), 59(a) and 36 of the Chhattisgarh Excise Act 1915. Assistant District Excise Officer Mr. Jalesh Kumar Singh, Excise Sub-Inspector Mr. Manrakhan Netam and Mr. Dinesh Kumar Sahu, Excise Chief Constable Mrs. Radha Giri Goswami and City Soldier Mrs. Rajkumari Paikara played an important role in the above action. The District Excise Officer said that this campaign against illegal liquor will continue in future as well.
