Workshop on Women and Child Focused New Law concluded
Raipur : A workshop on the subject of "Women and Child Focused New Law" was organized today under the joint aegis of Chhattisgarh Police and UNICEF. Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Shri Vijay Sharma attended the workshop as the chief guest. The workshop was concluded under the guidance of Director General of Police Shri Arun Dev Gautam.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, while addressing the workshop, said that society has expectations from the police and it is our great responsibility to live up to those expectations. He said that if we do not fulfill our responsibility today, the law and order situation will deteriorate. He said that law is the only way through which problems can be prevented before time. He appealed to the participants and said that all of you should take such action in your district from which the whole world can learn. He said that if there is security, there is life, progress, happiness, resources. Police is the only institution in the entire society, whose officers and employees sacrifice their lives in social service. Today a workshop was organized on this important topic. We will learn a lot from here. The power of the police comes from the law book and I expect the provisions in it to be implemented with strictness.

Throwing light on the outline of the workshop, Inspector General of Police for Crime Investigation and Narcotics, Mr. Ajay Yadav, mentioned the efforts being made by Chhattisgarh Police and the State Government towards women and child safety and gave detailed information about the work being done by the new Mahila Thana, Mahila Helpdesk, Family Counseling Center, Anti Human Trafficking Unit. Director General of Police, Mr. Arun Dev Gautam said in the workshop that women and child crimes have been given priority in the new law and a separate chapter has been created for this and this crime has been placed in the very initial sections, which tells how important it is to provide justice to women.
Continuous work is being done towards effective implementation of new laws, but the real challenge is to fully implement the new criminal law in its real spirit. Our investigating officer should have an understanding of the entire process so that we can take the evidence from the crime scene to the court, so that the defense does not get any opportunity and this workshop will be very useful in this direction.
UNICEF, Chhattisgarh Chief Mr. William said that UNICEF and Chhattisgarh Police have been working for a long time in the direction of child protection. He said that there is a need to adopt child friendly procedures to create a child protective environment in the society. He also mentioned about the child friendly police stations developed by Chhattisgarh Police in more than 100 police stations.
Inspector General of Police, Bilaspur Range Dr. Sanjeev Shukla and senior Supreme Court advocate Mr. Anant Asthana were specially invited as subject experts in the workshop. 120 participants including Additional Superintendent of Police of various districts, Deputy Superintendent of Police level nodal officers and other police officers, officers and employees of Women and Child Development Department participated in the workshop.
On this occasion, Inspector General of Police Mr. O.P. Pal, Mr. Ankit Garg, Mr. Amresh Mishra, Mr. Dhruv Gupta, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mrs. Milana Kurre, Mrs. Parul Mathur, Mr. Girija Shankar Jaiswal, Senior Superintendent of Police, Raipur, Dr. Lal Umed Singh, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mrs. Pooja Agarwal and other officers, employees and representatives of Police Headquarters and UNICEF were present.
