36th National Games: Chhattisgarh wins two medals in softball

In the 36th National Games, Chhattisgarh won two medals today.  The men’s softball team won a silver medal and the women’s softball team won a bronze medal. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Mr.Umesh Patel have congratulated the players of both teams for their success.  The Chhattisgarh team has won 2 Gold, 5 Silver and 6 Bronze medals in the National Games held in Gujarat so far.

Today, Chhattisgarh women’s softball team was playing against Kerala in the semi-finals.  In the struggling match, Chhattisgarh settled for the bronze medal.  It is worth mentioning that in the national championship of senior category, the women’s team won a medal for the first time.  Earlier, the women’s team had once finished jointly in third place.

       Today, the final match of the men’s softball game was played between Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.  Both the teams were in a tie position till the third inning.  Maharashtra went ahead by one run in the fourth inning.  Chhattisgarh team could not score any runs in the fifth inning and thus Maharashtra won the final match by 1-0.  Chhattisgarh got the silver medal for being the runner-up in the final match.
