Rajnandgaon : Suraaji Gaon Yojana has brought an immense transformation in rural areas of the state

 - Women in rural areas have become confident, self-dependent and skilled

- Most of the members of the women self help group have bought smart phones for themselves

- They have become a part of Digital India through apps such as PhonePe, Google pay and WhatsApp

- Income of Rs 2.50 lakh from the sale of vermi compost

- Income of Rs 80 thousand from fishery

Women in rural areas have become confident, self-dependent and skilled

Suraaji Gaon Yojana has brought an unprecedented wave of change and awareness in rural areas, significantly improving the social and economic status of women. The women of the self-help groups have got acquainted with new areas of self-employment. They are equipped with the information about various public welfare schemes of the government. Participation in various livelihood activities conducted in Gauthan has brought tremendous positive changes in the lives of women. Women in rural areas have become outspoken, confident and self-reliant. Mrs. Anupa Sahu from Gauthan of Dhiri village in Rajnandgaon development block said that joining Gauthan has proved to be a turning point in her life.  He informed that livelihood activities such as vermicompost manufacturing, green-vegetable production, fish farming are being conducted in Gauthan.  Vermicompost, greens and vegetables, and the locally manufactured household products are being supplied in Anganbadi centers.  She told that there are 10 members in her Jai Maa Angarmoti Women Self Help Group, who are collectively working towards financial empowerment and strengthening of rural economy.  These women are supporting their families from the income earned from Gauthan.

 Many of the members of this women self help group have bought smartphones with their recent earnings. Rural women have become adept in running all types of applications including Phone-Pay, Google-Pay, WhatsApp. The women of the group have earned an amount of Rs 2 lakh 50 thousand from the sale of vermi compost.  In Dhiri Gauthan, Jai Ambe Maiya Women's Self Help Group, Jai Ganga Maiya Women's Self Help Group and Sheetla Women's Self Help Group are associated with various livelihood activities.  In the last 2 years, they have earned about 80 thousand rupees from fish farming.  Mrs. Anupa told that Gauthan has given her more than what she expected.  Women who were once confined to domestic work, now have a plethora of  opportunities for employment, business and self-employment through various government schemes.
