Unannounced Power Cuts in Vasundhara, Preparation for Mass Movement

TNINS
Ghaziabad : The residents of Vasundhara, located in Ghaziabad district adjoining Delhi, are troubled by frequent unannounced power cuts. The situation has sparked widespread resentment, with locals warning of an impending agitation.

Residents report that there was a prolonged power outage across multiple sectors of Vasundhara last night. Importantly, there was no storm or adverse weather condition that could have caused the disruption, pointing instead to alleged negligence on the part of electricity department officials.

Adding to the frustration, locals claim that while officials exert pressure on ordinary residents over nominal bills, they often turn a blind eye to large-scale defaulters — particularly company owners — due to alleged bribery, resulting in non-recovery of dues worth lakhs.

In response to the growing crisis, residents have appealed directly to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. They assert that the electricity department officials and employees are to blame for these repeated power cuts, as they prioritize supplying power to industrial units over residential needs.

It is noteworthy that Vasundhara houses a large population of Delhi-based journalists, writers, government employees, and intellectuals, all of whom are being seriously affected by the ongoing power issues.

Locals recall that the situation had deteriorated earlier as well, and only saw temporary improvement after media coverage brought attention to the matter.
