Group women shared with Chief Minister how their life has changed by joining income-oriented activities

Women group demands addition in the income-generating activities, CM assures fulfilment of the same

 The efforts made by Chhattisgarh Government to promote rural women's economic empowerment by connecting them with self-help groups and providing employment and business opportunities have brought a paradigm shift in rural areas of the state. Today, the women in rural areas are not becoming self-reliant but are playing an important role in improving the family economy besides turning their dreams into reality.

One such example came to the fore during the Chief Minister's Bhent-Mulaqat programme held today at village Kashigarh in Jaijaipur block of Sakti district. While interacting with Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, a woman associated with Self-Help Group Smt. Ushabai Sahu said that she purchased a pair of anklets for the first time spending her self-earned money, which is a huge thing for her. She came to the programme wearing the same pair of anklets.

Before joining the Asha Kiran Group, Usha was confined to domestic chores. Now, she is indulged in various income-generating activities being run in the gauthan under Godhan Nyay Yojana. Stating that the family has limited sources of income, she said that they have a family farm of 2.5 acres which has been handed over to their three sons.

Expressing her gratitude towards Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel she said "the schemes started by the state government are not only bringing prosperity to the rural masses but are also granting women an equal opportunity for advancement and development in society. They are now becoming self-reliant and are making a significant contribution to the family's income."

President of Asha Kiran Mahila Group, Santoshi Bai Chandra told Chief Minister Baghel that her group has sold 772 quintals of vermicompost. The women of the group spent some of the money for the education of their children and contributed the rest to the household income. The group women expressed their wish to commence the work of fly ash brick manufacturing and requested the Chief Minister to provide machines for the same. On their request, the Chief Minister directed the officials concerned to make the machine available to them the earliest.

Rural Industrial Park will give a boost to women's self employment

Dilkunwar Jangde of Rani Laxmi Bai Women's Self Help Group said that her group is associated with poultry farming. Sales of Rs 1.5 lakh have been recorded so far. The women are contributing this income to their family's finances.

Congratulating the women's group, Chief Minister Shri Baghel said that we are constantly working to provide maximum employment to women at local level. For this, the government is now starting rural industrial parks in Gauthans to boost women's self employment.
