Instructions issued to complete approved development works within the stipulated timeline

Raipur : The first meeting of the Chhattisgarh State Rural and Other Backward Class Area Development Authority was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai at the Public Works Department auditorium in the district headquarters of Durg. During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted of major development works approved under the authority, approval of ongoing construction works being executed under the authority’s head, the allocated budget, and newly sanctioned projects.

Suggestions put forward by public representatives were discussed at length. The primary objective of the meeting was to assess the progress of schemes being implemented for the social, economic and educational upliftment of the backward class community in the state and to formulate future development strategies so that the benefits of development effectively reach the actual beneficiaries.

Reviewing various construction works and public welfare schemes being implemented under the authority, Chief Minister Shri Sai issued clear instructions to ensure timely and full utilisation of the approved budget. He said that the benefits of development works must directly reach the common people and that continuous monitoring at all levels is essential to achieve this goal.

The Chief Minister directed all district collectors to ensure efficient implementation of all development works, services and programmes approved within their respective districts. He specifically instructed that all sanctioned construction works be completed at the earliest, giving priority to the interests of Other Backward Class areas.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister conducted a district-wise review of construction and development works approved under the Chhattisgarh State Rural and Other Backward Class Area Development Authority from the financial year 2020–21 to 2024–25. He sought details of the progress status and issued necessary directions. During the review, he identified development works that had not yet commenced or were still in progress and directed that these be completed within a two-month timeframe. He interacted directly with district collectors to obtain updated information on the status of works and emphasised the need for time-bound completion.

Notably, the primary objective of the Chhattisgarh State Rural and Other Backward Class Area Development Authority is to ensure active participation of local public representatives in the rural development process. Under the authority, provisions have been made for the formulation of short-term plans in consultation with regional leadership, expansion of basic infrastructure, and speedy approval of small-scale construction works in accordance with public expectations. A total of 35 Assembly constituencies in the state fall under the authority.
 
Special focus is being laid on the development of basic civic amenities, promotion of social and cultural activities, expansion of educational facilities and health services in these areas. Emphasis is also being placed on the development of education and hostels, and discussions were held during the meeting on improving the quality of education for students belonging to the Other Backward Classes.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao, Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Revenue Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, Scheduled Caste Development Minister Shri Guru Khushwant Saheb, School Education Minister Shri Gajendra Yadav, MP Shri Brijmohan Agrawal, Vice Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Rural and Other Backward Class Area Development Authority Mr Lalit Chandrakar, along with other MLAs and public representatives. Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary Mr Basavaraju S, secretaries of various government departments, IGs, commissioners, collectors and other senior officials were also present.
