Maharaja Chakradhar Singh immortalised Raigarh on the global map of music and culture: CM Sai

Raipur : Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, gracing the concluding ceremony of the ten-day long Chakradhar Samaroh in Raigarh as chief guest, said that Maharaja Chakradhar Singh was a visionary who bestowed music with national as well as international recognition and etched Raigarh’s name in the cultural history of India.

Chief Minister Shri Sai observed that Raigarh has always nurtured a profound and special love for art and culture. To give permanence to this heritage, the announcement to establish a dedicated College of Art and Music was made last year. He informed the gathering that budgetary provisions have already been secured and a site has been finalised. Within the coming months, this institution will stand as a beacon of cultural learning and artistic excellence.

Shri Sai further said that in the last 20 months, his government has conceived and executed numerous schemes, taking them right to the doorsteps of common citizens. The guarantees given by the country’s  Prime Minister Narendra Modi have been honoured in record time, he emphasised. The Chief Minister announced that a comprehensive Vision Document 2047 has been prepared for Chhattisgarh, which will serve as a roadmap to transform the state into a fully developed Chhattisgarh.

Speaking on welfare measures, the CM highlighted that under the Mahatari Vandan Yojana, every mother and sister in Chhattisgarh is receiving ₹1,000 directly into their bank accounts every month. Nearly 70 lakh women are benefitting from this empowering initiative. He added that the new industrial policy has attracted investments worth lakhs of crores, thereby creating large-scale employment. Shri Sai underlined that the government is committed to providing ample opportunities to the sons and daughters of the state, ensuring their secure future. He also assured that Rajim Kumbh, a hallmark of the state’s cultural and spiritual identity, will soon be given a grand and majestic form.

 Chief Minister Shri  Sai, along with other distinguished guests, joined the thousands of music lovers in rejoicing at the electrifying performances of celebrated singer Padma Shri Kailash Kher, the star attraction of the concluding evening.

*Special postal cover dedicated to Maharaja Chakradhar Singh released*

On the occasion, Chief Minister Sai and other dignitaries unveiled a commemorative postal cover issued by the Department of Posts in honour of Maharaja Chakradhar Singh. They also launched Appu Raja, the mascot of Raigarh Municipal Corporation, envisioned under the Sugghar Chhattisgarh concept. Eminent Kathak exponents Padma Shri Dr. Nalini and Dr. Kamalini Asthana, along with their troupe, were felicitated for their captivating performances.

Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, addressing the gathering as special guest, said that Chhattisgarh has been synonymous with art and culture since its inception. He praised Maharaja Chakradhar Singh for giving this heritage national and international stature and extended warm congratulations and best wishes to all artists who displayed their talent on stage.

Finance Minister and local MLA O.P. Choudhary, addressing the sea of spectators at the closing ceremony, said that Raigarh is truly a city of art and culture. Raja Chakradhar Singh not only popularised Kathak dance but also carried forward several cultural legacies, earning them global recognition. He stressed that relentless efforts are underway for Raigarh’s development.

Finance Minister Shri Choudhary highlighted the inauguration of an Artificial Intelligence-based training centre in Raigarh, assuring that it would provide job guarantees for the youth. He also mentioned the establishment of the Nalanda Campus, which will enable students to gain entry into prestigious institutions such as IIT, NEET, and Law Universities. Shri Choudhary underlined that several landmark projects are already in motion, furthering Chhattisgarh’s growth trajectory.

On this occasion, Rajya Sabha MP Devendra Pratap Singh said that the Samaroh is a fitting tribute to the extraordinary contributions of Maharaja Chakradhar Singh. He preserved the fading glory of music, restored its prestige, and gave it international recognition. Shri Singh also conveyed heartfelt gratitude to all the participating artists.

The event was graced by Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, Lok Sabha MP Radheshyam Rathiya, Bilaspur Division Commissioner Sunil Jain, IG Sanjeev Shukla, CCF Prabhat Mishra, Collector and SP, along with several other public representatives and eminent citizens.
