Hanuman flag was hoisted on a 108 feet high pole in Keragodu village of Mandya district, which was removed by the district administration using police force. The local people strongly opposed the lowering of the flag. During this time the situation worsened and the local people started raising slogans against the administration. The district administration says that permission was given to hoist the national flag and Kannada flag on the pillar, but people hoisted the Hanuman flag in violation of the terms of the gram panchayat. Politics also started on this issue. BJP targeted the Siddaramaiah government of the state regarding this. The controversy grew so much that CM Siddaramaiah also gave a statement on this and said that hoisting the saffron flag instead of the national flag is wrong.
