A 53-year-old fashion designer from Delhi and her domestic help were found murdered by police on Thursday. The woman, identified as Mala Lakhani, was found in a pool of blood along with her security guard Bahadur Singh at her residence in Vasant Kunj Enclave of southwest Delhi.

Three persons have been apprehended in connection with the incident, Devender Arya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest), said. The three accused are employees of the woman and investigations revealed that they killed her for not getting their salaries.

Police informed the Indian Express that the woman was brutally stabbed over 10 times by a sharp weapon.  “The incident came to light after the locals found that the entrance door of her house was ajar at A-82, Vasant Kunj Enclave and the security guard was missing from his seat. They informed the police about the incident at around 3 am and police rushed to the spot. After reaching there, police found their bodies, lying in a pool of blood and house was ransacked,” a senior police officer told The Indian Express.

The woman was a fashion designer and was running a business in Delhi. “She was running a small office from her home where three tailors were working with her. One of them was working with her for the last four years. During questioning so far, they all have claimed before the police that she was not giving their salary to them following that they decided to rob her and kill her, but police are verifying the facts to ascertain the exact motive behind the murder,” police said. The bodies have been sent for postmortem, police told PTI, adding further investigation is in progress. ‘
