Raipur : Farmers to get Minimum Support Price and bonus: Dr. Raman Singh : Rs 2, 000 additional payment including bonus

20, 000 cases filed against forest-dwellers to be closed soon  

Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh presided over a Cabinet meeting which  took several historic decisions to benefit the common citizens. The meeting was held at the official residence of Chief Minister on Tuesday. Dr. Raman Singh  said that the Cabinet had decided to pay Rs 300 a quintal as bonus  alongwith Minimum Support Price (MSP) to the farmers from 1st November 2018.

Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh revealed that Rs 2400 crore will be paid as bonus to the farmers this time. The Central Government had fixed Rs 1770 MSP on A-grade paddy for the Kharif procument year 2018-2019 and Rs 1750 a quintal on common variety. The State Government will allocate Rs 300 a quintal as bonus to the farmers. They will get Rs 2000 a quintal additional amount.  Dr. Raman Singh said that Primary Co-Operative Societies' procurement centres will pay the MSP and bonus Online directly into the farmers' accounts.

Dr. Raman Singh also said that the special session of the Assembly will be convened on 11-12 September. The first day of the Assembly session will pay homage to late former Governor Mr. Balramjidas Tandon and the architect of Chhattisgarh State former Prime Minister Mr. Aral Behari Vajpayee. Second Supplemenray Budget will be tabled on the second day.

The Cabinet meeting also decided to close all the cases against forest -dwellers (around 19 thousand 832 cases) filed under the Indian Forest Act 1927 till 31st December 2016. There was a provision of fines up to Rs 20 thousand under this Act. It may be mentioned here that Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh had earlier closed around 57 thousand 226 cases till 30th June 2004. The decision to close all the cases had been taken on 14th October 2005. Most of the cases were also older than 50 years also. About one lakh 06 thousand 630 citizens belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and persons belonging to the economically weakers sections of the society benefitted from the historic and crucial decision. The Cabinet decision taken today will benefit  around 12 thousand persons belonging to the depressed sections of the society.
