Cereals now able to get a ration card from any shop in the country

The central government is going to implement a 'country-one ration card' scheme very soon. Under this scheme, a ration card can be procured from any shop in the country. The Union Consumer Affairs and Food and Public Distribution Minister Ram Vilas Paswan has said that the country will soon get the benefit of this scheme.

Paswan told the Rajya Sabha in Question Hour that on Friday, the public distribution system was completely made 'cashless' and the government's plan to provide 'One Nation One Ration' card was also made available. With this, people of economically weaker sections will be able to get their share of ration anywhere in the country.

Paswan said in response to a supplementary question that according to the UN objective set by the United Nations to reduce the country from poverty, according to the Food Security Act 2013, 50 percent of urban areas and 75 percent of the rural population in rural areas The government is working towards bringing the scope of PDS. He said that bringing two-thirds of the population of the country under the PDS, rice is being given at a rate of two rupees per kg and wheat at the rate of Rs 3 per kg.

He denied any kind of distribution related to PDS saying that there will be no scope for rigging after the system is completely cashless. Paswan clarified that the beneficiary does not have the mandate to show the Aadhaar card to come under the purview of PDS.
