Chhattisgarh bags fifth position in the 47th Sub Junior National Basketball Championship

Chhattisgarh has bagged the fifth position in the 47th Sub Junior National Basketball Championship being held in Himachal Pradesh. 

Chhattisgarh Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Shri Umesh Patel congratulated the team for their achievement and gave best wishes for their future endeavours.

Earlier, the state was in 11th position prior to the commencement of this national championship. However, with the outstanding performance and hard work and dedication of the state girl players, the state managed to improve its ranking, taking it to the fifth position. 

Chhattisgarh has defeated Kerela, Gujarat, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan and Goa to make it to the top five positions. The improved ranking will prove to be extremely beneficial for the national championships to be held in future. 

Chhattisgarh Girls team defeated Kerala by 41-35, Goa by 83-9, Gujarat by 65-39, Orissa by 50-21, Punjab by 62-58 and Rajasthan by 50-38. The team suffered a defeat at the hands of the Karnataka team in the quarter-finals by 47-42. 

The Girls players in the Chhattisgarh team included Asha (Captain), Antra, Divya, Sara, Reha, Amudini, Devika, Astha Soni, Chavi, Shubhangi, Aksara and Jenny. Rohit Patel was the coach and Shubham Tiwari was the assistant coach. The team was managed by Sharisa.
