Heavy Rain Couldn't deter DUTA's demonstration at UGC

The DUTA held a massive demonstration today at UGC to demand one-time regulation for the absorption of ad-hoc/temporary teachers working in the Departments and colleges of Delhi University, observing 200 point roster as per DoPT Guidelines. The DUTA President, Prof. A. K. Bhagi, the Office Bearers and hundreds of teachers gathered at UGC inspite of heavy rain  to protest for their demands of absorption of ad-hoc teachers along with the sanction of 25% EWS positions to DU & its colleges, immediate implementation of Anomalies Committee Report and relaxation from Ph.D/Publication for Associate Professor/Professor in Colleges.

The DUTA President, Prof. A. K. Bhagi, further categorically emphasized on the need of the absorption as the issue of existing ad-hoc/temporary teachers will be a step towards restoration of equality, dignity of teachers and gender equality. He asked the protesting teachers to strengthen DUTA through their participation in the ongoing struggle for absorption of working ad-hoc and release EWS expansion position. Prof Bhagi assured to take all possible steps to protect the services of all working ad-hoc colleagues.

The DUTA also demanded from the Govt. of India through UGC to bring one-time Bill/Regulation in the Parliament following DoPT norms & 200 point roster to absorb the ad-hoc/ temporary teachers of Delhi University.

DUTA Secretary, Dr. Surender Singh told that the disease of ad-hocism has been created and patronized by the previous VCs and this needs to be immediately addressed.

Former DUTA Presidents, Dr Aditya Narayan Mishra, Dr Nandita Narayan and Dr Rajib Ray also addressed the teachers besides other senior activists, Dr Hansraj Suman, Dr S. S Rana, Dr Ashwini Shankar and V S Rawat. Everyone showed anger towards the displacement of ad-hoc teachers in the ongoing appointment process in the departments of DU and it's Colleges.

Later, DUTA President, Prof A K Bhagi along with Office bearers met UGC officials and handed over memorandum to demand for absorption of ad-hoc /temporary teachers as well as release of additional teaching positions in lieu of 25% EWS expansion to DU and it's Colleges along with demand to declare and implement Anomalies Committee Report and relaxation from Ph.D for Associate Professorship. The UGC Chairman has given time to meet DUTA Office Bearers on 13th October to discuss absorption and various  issues.
