The report published by Outlook was by a news agency IANS. The news agency quoted unnamed sources, claiming the woman had earlier said she and her children were not getting food due to the lockdown and money inflow had stopped because she was a daily wage earner. ANI UP had tweeted saying that those in sector 5 Harola, Noida, who came in contact with Tablighi Jamat members have been quarantined. The news agency deleted the tweet after Noida DCP said the news agency misquoted an official and are spreading fake news.

Bhilwara Sarpanch Kismat Gurjar has hit out at interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi for crediting Congress scion Rahul Gandhi as the brainchild behind the Bhilwara Model that has ensured that the district hasn’t reported a single new coronavirus case in 10 days.

“I am hurt at her statement, as the work done to make the Bhilwara model successful is the work of all the local authorities," she said in a video

Bhilwara had become one of the hotspots of the outbreak, registering 27 positive cases and two deaths. The city has so far not reported any new case in the past 10 days, and the credit can go to the administration headed by Rajendra Bhatt and his team that comprises IAS officer Tina Dabi.

While the data is definitely something to write home about, Bhatt told The Print that it would be premature to celebrate. “I want to complete three cycles of isolation, testing and quarantining before we claim victory,” Bhatt said.

IAS officer Tina Dabi told News 18 in an interview that the situation in the state could ‘have easily gone the other way.’

Notably, Bhilwara had issued a total lockdown days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued the 21-day lockdown. On March 20, the district administration called for shutting of all shops, and asking people not to panic.

Dabi said that they realised that Bhilwara had the potential to become the next hotspot after several medical practitioners had tested positive in the city. Realising that they had come in contact with several people, and fearing that the disease would spread quickly, the administration acted fast and implemented a total lockdown.

Mentioning Tablighi Jamaat event in COVID-19 chart is Islamophobia: Delhi Minorities Commission tells health dept

Mentioning Tablighi Jamaat event in COVID-19 chart is Islamophobia: Delhi Minorities Commission tells health dept

The Delhi Minorities Commission has asked the Health Department to drop any mention of Tablighi Jamaat event in its daily bulletins on COVID-19 cases in Delhi.

In a letter to the Director/Secretary, Delhi Health Department, the DMC Chairman Dr Zafarul-Islam Khan said, "Your bulletins of Coronavirus victims are showing a separate column 'Markaz Masjid'. Such thoughtless classification is feeding into the Islamophobia agenda of the lap media and Hindutva forces and has been easily turned into a handle to attack Muslims across the country. As a result, Muslims are being attacked in various areas, calls are being made for their social boycott, one boy has been lynched in the North-West Delhi village of Harewali, others attacked."

The DMC letter further said, "World Health Organisation has taken cognizance of this phenomenon, unique to India. WHO Emergency Programme Director Mike Ryan said on April 6, 'Countries should not profile novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in terms of religion or any other criteria."

With 51 more COVID-19 positive cases on Thursday, the total number of positive cases in the national capital has risen to 720.

Out of the total 720 cases, there are 430 cases from the Tablighi Jamaat congregation that took place in Nizamuddin Markaz last month.

The Delhi government has made wearing face-mask compulsory in the city.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had on Wednesday said that 23 hotspots have been identified in Delhi in the battle to contain coronavirus. However, the authorities also added Bengali Market in the list of the hotspot on Thursday.
