Rajinikanth's 2.0 is Unstoppable, Beats Lifetime Business of Aamir's Dangal at Indian Box Office

Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar's 2.0 is on a record-breaking spree. Released on November 29, the film is not just flying high at the box office but it's literally dominating it. After emerging as the highest-grossing film of 2018 and zooming past the Rs 600-crore mark worldwide, S Shankar's magnum opus has reached another historical landmark at the Indian box office.

2.0 has beaten Aamir Khan's biggest blockbuster Dangal in India, taking into consideration the business of the film in all three versions (Hindi, Tamil and Telugu), reports Times Now. While Aamir's film collected Rs 380 crore at the domestic box office, 2.0 has crossed that milestone and is now racing towards Rs 400 crore.

2.0 (Hindi version) had an average earning at the box office on day 2. Subsequently, the film witnessed a significant growth in its collection on the third day of its release. The film, which has become the highest opener of 2018 by minting Rs 73.5 crore (all versions) on the opening day, earned Rs 25 crore (Hindi) on Saturday.

The long-awaited sequel to the 2010 blockbuster Robot sees Akshay in the role of an antagonist, Dr Richard/Crowman, a cellphone-hating mutant scientist. While Rajini reprises his role as Dr Vaseegaran/Chitti from the original film.

CNN-News18 film critic Rajeev Masand rated the film 3/5. Praising the film's visual effects, Masand wrote, "The VFX and the sheer spectacle on display allow me to forgive many of its faults. Shortcomings notwithstanding, it is the victory of vision. Shankar has shown us that slick special effects blockbusters are very much within our grasp."

The film also features Adil Hussain, Sudhanshu Pandey and Amy Jackson in key roles. Music maestro AR Rahman has scored the film.
