State-wide Mobile Tihaar : More than one lakh people in cities of Chhattisgarh received smart phones

30 Thousand people got 4G smart phones in their hand in just one day

115 distribution centres established in urban areas of state

Mobile Tihaar to be celebrated in rural areas from August 17 to 23 September

Nearly 15 thousand villages to be covered under internet network by May 2019

 Under Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh's priority scheme Sanchar Kranti Yojana, 4G smart phones have been distributed to more than one lakh people in past one week under Mobile Tihaar celebrations being organized in various cities of Chhattisgarh. Under this scheme, in one day i.e. on August 6, smart phones were distributed to nearly 30 thousand people through 115 distribution centres. It is the first phase of the scheme, under which smart phones will be distributed to beneficiaries in cities till August 16. From August 17 to September 23, Mobile Tihaar will be organized in rural areas of the state. It is known that President Mr. Ramnath Kovind had commenced Sanchar Kranti Yojana in a programme organized at Jagdalpur Headquarters of Bastar Division on July 26. Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh had inaugurated this scheme for cities in the Mobile Tihaar programme organized in Sardar Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium of capital city Raipur on July 30th. Till date, Chief Minister has attended Mobile Tihaar organized in Raipur, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Bilaspur and Korba, where he symbolically distributed smartphones to many beneficiaries and taught them how to take selfie.

CEO of Chhattisgarh Infotech Promotion Society (CHiPS) Mr. Alex Paul Menon informed today that in rural areas of the state, smart-phone distribution will go on from August 17 to September 23. He informed that minimum eight counters will be made in each mobile distribution centre. Beneficiaries are being provided receipts with barcode, so that they may collect the smartphone after their KYC updation and barcode verification at the distribution centre. Beneficiaries will also be provided training on how to use smart phones and mobile applications. He added that Chhattisgarh is the first state to launch Sanchar Kranti Yojana. Under this scheme, 37 lakh people in cities and villages of the state will be provided 4G smartphones in next four months. This includes more than 32 lakh women and more than 5 lakh college students.
