Blast at Bombay Bhel restaurant in Canada, at least 15 injured

Toronto: At least 15 people were injured in Canada when an explosion hit an Indian restaurant outside Toronto on Thursday night. Many of the injured were diners.

According to New York Times, the blast occurred at Bombay Bhel restaurant at around 10.30 pm. The restaurant is situated in Mississauga, Ontario, a city just south of Toronto. The cause of the explosion is still unknown and the officials are trying to configure weather the explosion was caused by a gas leak, an accident or an incendiary device.

The city of Mississauga has a population of more than 7 lakh people and has a large immigrant population. It is the sixth-largest municipality in Canada. A local ambulance service Peel Paramedics informed that it present on the site of explosion with multiple patients. Three people suffered critical blast injuries while the rest suffered minor injuries.

A Canadian news channel reported that police SWAT team was called to the scene of the blast. The restaurant is situated in a busy plaza that takes up half a city block. Many ambulances and emergency vehicles can be seen outside the restaurant in the videos of the incident. One month earlier, a driver of van plowed into the  pedestrians in Toronto, killing 10 people and injuring 14 more.
