Infrastructure for solid waste management will be strengthened in all urban bodies
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao recently met Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Shri Manohar Lal and requested approval of the amount.
Raipur : On the initiative of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved Rs 230 crore for solid waste management in urban bodies of Chhattisgarh. The amount is approved under Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) for strengthening infrastructure and technical arrangements for solid waste management in all urban bodies.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his heartfelt thanks to Government of India for cooperation of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. “This amount will give a new dimension to the works of Swachh Bharat Mission in the cities. This will give a facelift to every urban body of the state as clean and healthy,” said Shri Sai.
He added that with this financial assistance will improve the waste management infrastructure in the Municipal Corporations, Municipalities and Nagar Panchayats of the state. This will mobilize the necessary technical, physical and human resources to improve the system of solid waste management in the state, which will not only improve the condition of cleanliness, but will also provide better environmental facilities to the citizens.
It is noteworthy that Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Arun Sao had met Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Shri Manohar Lal during his recent visit to New Delhi and requested him to approve funds for solid waste management works. Hence, based on the proposals raised by Chhattisgarh’s Urban Administration Department, the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved Rs 230 crore for Chhattisgarh for solid waste management
