Mumbai: The Maharashtra ATS has seized an Innova car from the Nalasopara residence of right-wing activist Vaibhav Raut, who was recently arrested on the charge of engaging in terrorist activity.

The ATS officials suspect that the Innova was used to transport explosives from Pune and other places. The vehicle will be sent to the forensic department for examination. The ATS also seized one laptop, two Central Processing Units (CPU), four air pistols, 20 air pistol cartridges boxes, two notebooks, one diary, three mobiles, two SIM cards and other documents along with  the Innova. Raut, who is no co-operating, accompanied the ATS during the visit to his residence and warehouse, which were searched yet again.

An official said on the condition of anonymity, “We strongly suspect Raut used the car to travel from Nalasopara to Pune and Satara with Sharad Kalaskar in  order to finalise their next move with Sudhanva Gondhalekar. The car will be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Kalina to ascertain its mileage, which will be tallied with that of Gondhalekar’s car.” The residents in the neighourhood were visibly alarmed when they saw Raut with the ATS. But they were calmed down by Raut’s wife who claimed that her husband will soon be released from custody.
