Raipur : DGP Merit Scholarship scheme to be implemented for students belonging to Police families

Meeting of Police Central Welfare Committee and Joint Advisory Committee held

 

 Director General of Police (DGP) Mr. DM Awasthi today chaired a meeting of Chhattisgarh Police Central Welfare Committee and Joint Advisory Committee at conference hall of Police Transit mess. In the meeting, the proposal of DGP Scholarship for meritorious students belonging to police families was passed.

As per the proposal, students who have scored 85% or more in 10th board exam will be provided scholarship of Rs 1500 to Rs 2000 per month and students who have scored 80% or more in 12th board exam will be provided scholarship of Rs 3000 per month for graduation, and for post graduation in any prestigious institution of the state, eligible meritorious students will be provided scholarship worth Rs 5000 per month, under this scheme.

In his address to members of advisory committee from all the police units. DGP Mr. Awasthi said that proposals related to welfare and development of police families should be taken into consideration. Currently, service in police department would prove beneficial if by the time police personnel-officials get retired, their children complete their higher education. Mr. Awasthi said that a committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of ADGP Mr. Ashok Juneja to prepare SOP for equal promotion opportunities for all the officials-employees of State Police.

In the meeting, proposal of higher education loan on minimum interest rate for meritorious children of police personnel was also approved. Police officials-personnel will now have access to financial aid of Rs 1.50 lakh from crisis fund, twice in their entire service period. Proposal of police transit mess in each district headquarters was also passed. It was decided in the meeting that other proposals related to salary allowance, housin allowance, travel allowance and medical allowance, received from various units will be sent from Police Headquarters for decision at government-level. On the occasion, Special DGP Mr. Sanjay Pillai, Mr. RK Vij, ADGP Mr. Pawan Dev, Mr. Ashok Juneja, IG Mr. Deepanshu Kabra, Raipur range IG Mr. Anand Chhabra, DIG Mr. RS Nayak, Mr. HR Manhar, Dr Sanjeev Shukla, Mr. Sundarraj P and officials-personnel of Police Headquarters were also present.
