Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu launches 'Rajyotsav' 2017



   Naxalites called upon to shun violence

                               Chhattisgarh totally transformed during past 17 years                               

   Vice-President Mr. Venkaiah Naidu today lauded the spectacular development of the State in a short span of 17 years in spite of Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) violence. He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of five-day 'Rajyotsav-2017' -State Formation Day at Naya Raipur. He greeted the citizens of the State on the auspicious occasion of Formation Day and wished them a bright and prosperous future Mr. Naidu added that 'ballot' is more powerful than 'bullet' and called upon the Naxalites to participate in the electoral process. Mr. Naidu appreciated the socio-economic development of the State under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh.

                                                                  Shining example

Mr. Naidu said that Chhattisgarh is a shining example for other States to emulate. The Vice-President said Naxalites' violence is a challenge to the democratic structure and peaceful economic development of the nation. Mr. Naidu called upon the ultras to join the mainstream of society for rapid progress. Chhattisgarh is a prime example as to how rapid progress can be achieved in a short span of time in a democracy.

The Vice-President said that the then Prime Minister Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee had carved out Chhattisgarh on 1 November 2000 and the present State Government had realized the dreams of making it a developed State. Governor Mr. Balramji Das Tandon and Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh also addressed the  gathering. Mr. Naidu stressed upon the need for good governance to make available the social welfare benefits to the poor masses. He appreciated the Dr. Raman Singh Government for focusing on the poor, villagers and farmers.

                                                                     Small States cater to poor 

Mr. Naidu said that small states cater to the needs of poor and needy. Chhattisgarh is on top of several development parameters in the entire country. The State Public Distribution System is hailed all over the country. He appreciated that the Per Capita Income of the citizens in the State is around Rs 80,000. He added that it is the first State in the country to be declared 'Electricity cuts-free'. Raipur, Naya Raipur and Bilaspur had been selected for the Smart Cities project. The farmers are being provided with 'Zero' interest loans.

Governor Mr. Tandon said that 17 years is a short period of time for any State but still Chhattisgarh made rapid progress in all sectors. He greeted the citizens on the auspicious occasion of 'Rajyotsav'.

                                                                      People's festival: Dr. Raman Singh     

     Dr. Raman Singh said that 'Rajyotsav' is people's festival. He said that Chhattisgarh has completed 17 years of formation and has entered the 18th year. He said that exhibition is giving a glimpse of the rapid development of the State. He congratulated the citizens on the Rajyotsav.

Assembly Speaker Mr. Gowrishankar Agrawal, Jail Minister Mr. Ramsevak Paikra,  Panchayat Minister Mr. Ajay Chandrakar,  Agriculture Minister Mr. Brijmohan Agrawal,  School Education Minister Mr. Kedar Kashyap,  Forest Minister Mr. Mahesh Gaagda,  Revenue Minister Mr. Premprakash Pande,  Women and Child Development Minister Mrs. Ramsheela Sahu,  Urban Development Minister Mr. Amar Agrawal, Public Works Minster Mr. Rajesh Munat and several prominent citizens were also present.
